VFAB housing queue

Vadstena Fastighets AB (VFAB) is owned by Vadstena Municipality and lets 805 apartments in Vadstena and Borghamn. Alongside ordinary rentals there is a separate 65+ queue for the adapted homes at Gustav Wasas väg 2-6, and a sheltered-housing queue for Kalkhagsvägen plus what is planned at Karlsfrid. In those queues you can join from 60 and register interest from 65. Registering is free. There is no annual fee. You can register from the year you turn 18.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy the five with the most points are offered a viewing. The contract goes to whichever of them has the most points and accepts. Queue points are personal and cannot be transferred, except on death to a spouse or cohabiting partner. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

VFAB publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or contact them, or you lose the points. When you sign a contract the points reset. Tenants who want to move within VFAB must have lived in their home for at least twelve months.
