Vårgårda Bostäder housing queue

Vårgårda Bostäder AB is owned by Vårgårda Municipality and has owned and managed properties in the municipality since 1995. The company lets 748 rental homes, all in Vårgårda town, from one-room flats to townhouses with up to five rooms. Alongside ordinary rentals there is a separate queue for garages and parking spaces through Mina sidor. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register as an applicant, and the interest registration is personal. It cannot be transferred. You have to apply yourself for the homes you want, at most five in the same period. Among those who meet the letting policy, the home goes to whoever has actively applied and has the longest queue time. To sign you need a steady disposable income that covers the rent, and they always make an individual assessment. Accepted income includes wages, unemployment benefit, student finance, a pension, capital income, housing allowance and taxable payments from Försäkringskassan. Income support counts only if it is approved by Vårgårda Municipality. They run a credit check when you register, and you should be able to show good references from a previous landlord. The number of occupants may not exceed two people per room. When allocating they may give special consideration to people moving into the municipality for work or studies. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Vårgårda Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with longer queue time apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To stay in the queue you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, within 365 days, or you are deregistered. They send no reminder. If you are offered a viewing and do not reply, or decline a contract, at most three times you are blocked from applying for 12 months. When you sign a contract your queue place is deregistered. Existing tenants who want another home should as a rule have lived there at least a year.
