Vansbrohem housing queue

Stiftelsen Vansbrohem is Vansbro Municipality's public housing company and owns and manages 712 rental homes plus 62 commercial premises in Vansbro, Dala-Järna, Äppelbo and Nås. Sizes run from one room with a kitchenette to four rooms and a kitchen. Some homes are let as senior housing: Solgärdet, Sörgården, N.Allégatan and Odd Fellowgatan from age 65, and Legoland in Nås from age 55. These are ordinary rentals for permanent living. Registering is free. There is no annual fee. You need a Swedish personal identity number to join the queue.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the registration date. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time, and among those who meet the letting policy the home goes to the applicant with the most points after an approved credit check. Vansbrohem reserve the right to choose the tenant. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Priority can be granted if you have taken a job in Vansbro Municipality and have no home there, or on medical grounds with a certificate. Priority does not guarantee a home that matches your wishes, only an offer in the municipality. You must live in the home, be registered there, and hold valid home insurance.

Vansbrohem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in at least once every six months, or the queue place is cancelled and you lose the points. When you are allocated a home the housing application is deleted. If you register interest again you are blocked from applying for new homes for 12 months. If you decline a viewing ten times in four months, or do not reply at all as many times, the application is blocked for four months.
