Vänersborgsbostäder housing queue

AB Vänersborgsbostäder is owned by Vänersborg Municipality and manages 3,567 apartments in Vänersborg, Vargön, Brålanda and Frändefors. Roughly one in seven people in Vänersborg lives with them. Alongside ordinary rentals there is senior housing from 60 and sheltered housing from 70, plus storage and parking spaces. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred. Vacant homes stay listed for seven days as a rule. You register interest on Mina sidor, at most five at a time, and those with the longest queue time who meet the letting policy are offered a viewing and a contract. Approved income includes wages, unemployment benefit, student finance, a pension, housing allowance and income support certified by Vänersborg Municipality, and it needs to cover the rent. They run a credit check. You must have no unsettled debt or payment default in the past 12 months, and no rent debt. Homes marked Bostad Direkt instead go first come, first served, with no regard to queue time. You can join the queue from 16, but register interest and sign a contract only from 18. You can join the 60+ senior queue from the year you turn 55, and the 70+ sheltered-housing queue from the year you turn 65. Some new-builds can be let on other criteria, including a requirement for income from employment or a pension. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Vänersborgsbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your queue time you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, no later than 365 days after registration or your last login, or the record is deleted. If you turn down three offers within a month and then a fourth, you are blocked from registering interest the following month, but the queue time is not affected. If you do not reply to an offer or miss a viewing you are blocked for three months. When you sign a contract, including on a Bostad Direkt home, the queue time resets. If two people are on the contract, both lose their points. If you pull out after agreeing to sign, the queue time resets as well.
