Vallonbygden housing queue

Vallonbygden AB is owned by Finspång Municipality and is the largest landlord there, with around 1,950 rental homes. Alongside ordinary rentals you can rent extra storage, primarily as a tenant in the same area. Parking spaces and garages are let only to people who already live with them, in a separate queue. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you file your interest registration, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred, except to a spouse or cohabitant on death. When a home falls vacant you register interest, six at a time at most. Listings stay up for five days, and it does not matter when during that window you apply: when the week ends, the three applicants with the longest queue time who have passed the credit check are ranked and offered a viewing. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Bostad-direkt is the exception: those listings are first come, first served, and you can get a home without being in the ordinary queue. You can join the queue once you have turned 16, but a contract is signed at 18 at the earliest.

Vallonbygden publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to log in at least once a year and renew the interest registration, or you drop out of the queue and have to start over with a new queue date. The points disappear when you are allocated a home, and you must stay for a year before you can apply for a new one. If you do not reply to three offers you are blocked from booking homes for six months.
