Torsby Bostäder housing queue

Torsby Bostäder AB is Torsby Municipality's public housing company and manages 1,260 apartments in Torsby town and the surrounding area and in Klarälvdalen, including Sysslebäck, Lekvattnet, Vitsand and Fensbol. Alongside ordinary rentals they let garages, carports and parking spaces, and they make it easier for applicants aged 60 or over to apply for homes suited to them. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. When a home falls vacant it is listed for about seven days, provided at least five people have registered interest. Otherwise the listing is extended. You register interest, and a viewing is offered to those with the longest queue time. The contract goes to whoever, after the viewing, answers yes on Mina sidor and has the most queue days, among those who meet the letting policy. They run a credit check and require that you can show income, have good tenancy references and do not have payment defaults with Kronofogden. You may not have old debts to Torsby Bostäder. Applicants with special needs can get priority, but cannot insist on a particular location. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Torsby Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year. The application updates automatically when you log in. If you do not update within 12 months you are cleared from the applicant bank and earned points are lost. When you sign a contract you are automatically removed from the queue. If you want to swap homes you can start collecting points again, but you cannot register interest until three months have passed. If you turn down a home you keep your points and are not blocked.
