Tierpsbyggen housing queue

AB Tierpsbyggen is Tierp Municipality's municipally owned housing company and manages around 1,800 rental homes in ten towns: Karlholm, Söderfors, Mehedeby, Skärplinge, Tobo, Örbyhus, Månkarbo, Tierp, Tierps Kyrkby and Lövstabruk. Alongside ordinary rentals they let terraced houses, semi-detached houses and apartment buildings, plus parking spaces assessed against the same letting policy. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time, and you can withdraw while the listing is still up. After the application window Tierpsbyggen run a credit check and assess you against the letting policy. About eight applicants are then invited to a viewing, based on queue points. You say yes to the viewing and then yes or no to a tenancy on Mina sidor, and they contact whoever has the most points among those who said yes. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. If you live in another municipality but have been given a job in Tierp Municipality you can contact them and receive one year of queue points already at registration. You may decline at most three offers within three months; after that you are blocked from applying for three months, but you keep collecting points during the block. Not answering counts as a no.

Tierpsbyggen publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in at least once a year, even if you are already a tenant. Existing tenants also have to create an interest registration to stand in the queue.
