Tanums Bostäder housing queue

Tanums Bostäder AB is Tanum Municipality's wholly owned public housing company and lets 781 apartments in Tanumshede, Grebbestad, Fjällbacka, Hamburgsund and Östad. Alongside ordinary rentals they let parking spaces, garages and extra storage. A parking space, engine-heater space or garage is booked on the website. As a starting point one space per apartment, and vacant spaces go first come, first served. Extra storage is requested by email. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. Queue time counts from the day you register, and registration is personal. It cannot be transferred. Vacant homes are listed for about seven days. You register interest, at most five at a time, and when the listing closes the three to five applicants with the most points are offered a viewing by email. Among those who meet the letting policy, the contract goes to whoever has the most points. To sign you need income that covers the rent, no debts to Tanums Bostäder, another landlord or Kronofogden, home insurance and a valid Swedish personal identity number. They run a credit check (UC) on whoever accepts after the viewing. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Tanums Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to log in to Mina sidor and update your registration at least once a year. Queue time resets when you move in, move out or make an internal swap. If you turn down five offers you are blocked from applying for new homes for one year.
