Strömsunds Hyresbostäder housing queue

Strömsunds Hyresbostäder AB is Strömsund Municipality's wholly owned public housing company and lets 932 apartments in Strömsund, Hammerdal, Hoting, Backe, Rossön and Gäddede. Alongside ordinary rentals they have a separate parking queue, let first to people who already hold an apartment or commercial lease with them. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You register on the website and create a Mina sidor account, and when a home falls vacant you register interest there. If several people apply, the home goes to whoever has the longest waiting time, meaning the most queue points, among those who meet the letting policy. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count while you are in the queue. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. To sign you need a Swedish personal identity number, and the household's documented income must cover the rent, for example wages, pension, unemployment benefit, establishment support, social assistance or student aid. They run a credit check on whoever is offered a home, require that you have no debt to them or another landlord, and normally refuse applicants with payment defaults, with a possible exception for smaller amounts. If you turn down an offer three times you are removed from the queue and the points are deleted. Once you sign a contract you cannot apply for other homes with them for six months, and you may hold only one apartment contract. People moving to Strömsund Municipality for work may be given priority.

Strömsunds Hyresbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the town, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To stay in the queue you need to update your housing application on Mina sidor at least once every six months, or you are removed.
