Stångåstaden housing queue

Stångåstaden is Linköping Municipality's municipal housing company and the largest landlord in the municipality, with 14,535 rental homes. Alongside ordinary rentals there are terraced houses, senior housing, sheltered housing, collective housing and new-builds. Studentbostäder i Linköping, around 4,147 student homes, has its own queue at studentbostader.se and is not applied for in this one. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be combined or transferred, except on death or a move into care. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy the offer goes to the one with the most points. On average the ten with the most points get an offer and a viewing. Some listings are aimed at a target group, such as youth aged 18-24, families with children or seniors, and then points are counted within that group. People aged 18-24 also get 10 percent of the one-bedroom homes and 5 percent of the two-bedroom homes that turn over. Some homes are let without points: they have already been listed without being let, and then whoever first registers interest and wants to sign gets the home. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Stångåstaden publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points, if you do not rent from them you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or you are struck from the queue and lose the points. Tenants do not need to renew the login: for them the latest move-in date counts as queue time. If you move within Stångåstaden the points reset. If you move away you keep them. If you turn down five offers within six months you are blocked for six months.
