About Stadsbostäder
Stadsbostäder is not a municipal landlord but a Skåne letting agency. They manage around 3,000 apartments on behalf of various property owners. Property companies, private landlords and tenant-owner associations, and let ordinary rentals in Malmö, Lund and Vellinge. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue does not work like a municipal housing agency. Stadsbostäder have neither a housing queue nor a points system. You create an account on Min sida and register interest in vacant homes, at most five at a time; they do not accept applications by phone or email. Among applicants who meet Stadsbostäder's letting policy they make an overall assessment based on how long you have been registered and the applicant's stated wishes. They reserve the right to choose freely among applicants. The registration date is personal and cannot be transferred. If you have been to five viewings and turned all of them down, they give other applicants priority.
Stadsbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the home and how many others register interest. They give no exact figure in months. To count as an active applicant you need to log in at least every six months; if you do not log in for a year the account is deleted. When you are allocated a home the registration date is reset, and the next login generates a new one.
