Skövdebostäder housing queue

Skövdebostäder is owned by Skövde Stadshus AB, which is in turn owned by Skövde Municipality, and has just over 5,700 rental homes. Alongside ordinary rentals they have student homes for people enrolled at the University of Skövde, sheltered housing from age 65, storage units and parking. Storage is applied for online, but existing tenants have priority regardless of points. Garages, carports and parking spaces are let first to people who already have a tenancy, through a separate queue. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day in the queue, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined with anyone else's. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most three at a time, and it is listed for at least eight days. Among those who meet the basic rules, offers go to the five to eight with the most points, and whoever has the most points and says yes within a week gets the contract. Student homes have a separate queue with their own rules. The exception is Bostad direkt: then the home goes to whoever registers interest first, regardless of points, and you keep your points. Income is assessed against the rent using Kronofogden's regulations, and they run a credit check. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Skövdebostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to update your interest registration at least once every twelve months, or you do not stay in the queue. When you sign an ordinary apartment contract the points reset, including when you move within the company, and you cannot book a new home until six months after the contract date. You then start collecting new points automatically. If you rent a student home, only the student-queue points reset. If you move out of Skövdebostäder the points are not reset.
