Skebo housing queue

Skebo is Skellefteå's municipal housing company and lets around 4,320 apartments in the municipality. Alongside ordinary rentals they have student homes, youth apartments (apply up to age 25), 55-plus apartments, sheltered homes from age 70, plus parking spaces and storage. Student homes are applied for in a separate student queue. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal: they cannot be transferred or pooled. There is only one housing queue for ordinary rentals, youth, 55-plus and sheltered homes. When a home falls vacant you register interest, the 20 applicants with the most points get an offer, and among those who say yes and meet the letting policy, the one with the most points gets the contract. If the home is not let it moves to BoDirekt: first come, first served, with no points required. Student homes have their own queue and also go to whoever first registers interest. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Skebo publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or they disappear and cannot be restored. When you sign a contract on a queue apartment the points reset. You can start collecting new points straight away, but you may not register interest in another home until nine months later. Student rooms and BoDirekt lets are the exception: you keep the points. After BoDirekt the same nine-month bar still applies.
