About Pitebo
Pitebo is Piteå Municipality's municipal housing company, with around 4,000 rental homes in Piteå Municipality. Alongside ordinary rentals they have student homes, including in the Ankars area at Djupviken, senior housing for ages 65+ and sheltered housing for ages 75+. Parking spaces are let through a separate queue, but only to people who already have a tenancy with them. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register as an applicant, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined with anyone else's. When a home falls vacant you register interest for a week, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy, viewing offers go to the five with the most points. You get no numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. You can register from age 16, but you must have turned 18 and have a Swedish personal identity number to apply for a home and sign a contract. Without a Swedish personal identity number you can join the queue, but you cannot apply. Alongside the ordinary queue there is Direkt 24h, where the order is drawn at random among those who registered interest. Queue points do not count there.
Pitebo publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in at least once a year, or you are deregistered and lose your queue time. If you already have a tenancy with them, your time as a tenant counts as queue time, and you then do not need to log in to keep it. When you are allocated an apartment the points reset, but as a tenant you are automatically activated in the queue again and start collecting new points from the contract start date.
