Övikshem housing queue

AB Övikshem is owned by Örnsköldsvik Municipality and lets 2,692 rental homes across ten neighbourhoods, of which 56 are student apartments. Alongside ordinary rentals there is senior housing from age 55, sheltered housing from age 65 with no municipal care assessment, KomBo where you have your own room and share common spaces, plus parking spaces and storage. Student housing is applied for in a separate queue, Studentbostad, on the same Mina sidor account. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn 1 point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or pooled. There is no lower age limit to join the queue, but you must have turned 18 to register interest and sign a contract. Vacant homes stay listed for three days. You may have at most three interest registrations each on ordinary apartments and student homes. Among those who meet the basic requirements, the offer goes to the applicant with the most points who has said yes. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. If you are moving to Örnsköldsvik for a new full-time job and are registered outside the municipality, customer service can add a bonus equal to two years of queue time.

Övikshem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months. When you sign a tenancy the points reset, including if you move within Övikshem. You cannot register interest in new homes during the first six months after moving in.
