Olofströmshus housing queue

Olofströmshus AB is Olofström Municipality's public housing company and lets 1,936 apartments in Olofström, Jämshög and Kyrkhult. Alongside ordinary rentals they have Lugnt boende with an age requirement, including senior homes from 55, and garages and carports applied for through the same account. Parking is let only to people who already have an apartment contract, at most two spaces per household. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you activate yourself in the queue, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or pooled. When a home falls vacant you register interest on Mina sidor. On Bostadstorget, for ground-floor apartments and terraced houses and for Lugnt boende, the offer goes to whoever has the most points among those who meet the letting policy. The exception is Bostad Direkt: first come first served applies there, and you keep your points if you sign a contract. Particular weight can be given for senior homes from 55, when they need to move tenants for rebuilding, on medical grounds, or if you live outside Olofström Municipality. To sign you must be 18, have no rent arrears, have a sound economy without serious payment defaults, and have household net income that covers the rent and reasonable living costs under Konsumentverket's guidelines. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Olofströmshus publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or you are removed and the points are lost. Visiting the website or contacting customer service is not enough. When you sign a contract the points are used up and counting starts again from the day the contract takes effect, except on Bostad Direkt where you keep the points. After signing you are blocked from registering interest for three months, but points keep accruing during the block.
