Nyköpingshem housing queue

Nyköpingshem is Nyköping Municipality's public housing company, with around 4,000 rental homes in the municipality. In central Nyköping and in the outer areas. Alongside ordinary rentals there are senior apartments from age 60 for households with no children under 18, and smoke-free properties. Everything is applied for in one and the same housing queue. Anyone with a Swedish personal identity number can register. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. Vacant homes are published each week and stay listed for a week. You register interest on Mina sidor, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy, those with the most points are invited to a viewing. The day after the viewing, the applicant with the most points is contacted. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. The exception is homes under the Poängfritt scheme: they are let without queue points, including to people who are not in the queue, and you keep the points you have.

Nyköpingshem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They give no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in and update your details at least once a year, or the points are lost. When you sign a contract on an ordinary apartment you have used up the queue points you had collected. If you want to stay in the queue you have to register again and start collecting from zero. Poängfritt is the exception: there you keep the points.
