Nordanstigs Bostäder housing queue

Nordanstigs Bostäder AB is owned by Nordanstig Municipality and lets 811 apartments in places such as Bergsjö, Gnarp, Harmånger, Hassela, Ilsbo, Stocka, Strömsbruk, Jättendal and Mellanfjärden. Alongside ordinary rentals they have sheltered housing from age 65 in Harmånger and senior housing from 55 in Ilsbo and from 65 on Bållebergsvägen in Bergsjö. Commercial premises and parking spaces are applied for through the letting office. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most three at a time. Homes stay listed for seven days, and viewing offers go to the three applicants with the most points. Among those who meet the letting policy, the contract goes to whoever has the most points and has said yes. You can register from 16, but a contract is signed only from 18. Income must be secured for at least six months ahead. Wages, unemployment benefit, pension and student finance count, but not social assistance, child benefit, maintenance or housing benefit. They run a credit check. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Nordanstigs Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year and confirm your details, or the points are deleted and cannot be restored. When you get a tenancy the points reset, and you have to register again to start collecting. Three unanswered offers block you from new interest registrations for six months.
