About Mönsterås Bostäder

Mönsterås Bostäder AB is owned by Mönsterås Municipality and lets 1,396 apartments in five towns: Mönsterås, Ålem, Blomstermåla, Timmernabben and Fliseryd. Alongside ordinary rentals they have senior housing from age 55, where at least one person in the household must be 55 or over and there must be no children living at home. They also let commercial premises, storage, parking spaces and garages. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. Queue time counts from the day you register on Mina sidor, and one day equals one point. When a home falls vacant you register interest, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy the offer usually goes by points. You must be 18 and have a Swedish personal identity number, be registered as living in Sweden, be an EU or Nordic citizen, or hold a permanent residence permit. After the rent is paid the household must still have Kronofogden's subsistence amount (normalbeloppet), and they run a credit check. Rent arrears and larger payment defaults can block a contract, but remarks are assessed case by case. Time in the queue is the base, but some applicants can be prioritised, for example when moving into the municipality for work, for social or medical needs, or if you already live with them and have particular needs. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you register. That is why joining early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Mönsterås Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the town, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to be active at least once every six months by logging in to Mina sidor, or the queue place is deleted and the points cannot be restored. When you move into one of their apartments the points reset. The same applies if you as a tenant move to another landlord, for example through a swap, a transfer or a notice to quit. If you turn down, or do not reply to, three offers within six months you are blocked from registering interest for six months. If you change your mind between allocation and signing you are blocked for twelve months.
