Malå Bostaden housing queue

Malåbostaden AB is Malå Municipality's wholly owned public housing company, with around 500 rental homes. About 80 percent of the apartments in the municipality. Alongside ordinary rentals there are the homes at Furugatan 1-5, let to applicants aged 25 or over, with access to shared common rooms. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on queue time, not points. Everyone stands in one shared queue, and vacant homes are let in order of queue time and the preferences you have stated. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the time counts from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Queue time is personal and can be transferred only on death or if a spouse or registered partner moves into care housing. You can join the queue through customer service before you have a Swedish personal identity number, but a contract requires that number and that you have turned 18. You must be able to pay the rent from your income, for example wages for at least six months, a pension, unemployment benefit or student finance. They run a credit check and do not accept rent debts or a balance with Kronofogden. From the queue they prioritise people with no apartment at all, and existing tenants should as a rule have lived there at least two years before they are offered a new home.

Malå Bostaden publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home and how many applicants with longer queue time apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. They also publish no requirement to log in at set intervals: under their GDPR information your details stay for as long as you remain in the queue. If you accept a home the application is taken out of the system. You have seven days to sign the contract, and the application cannot be reactivated.
