LysekilsBostäder housing queue

LysekilsBostäder AB is Lysekil Municipality's public housing company and lets around 1,200 apartments in Lysekil, Brastad, Brodalen, Fiskebäckskil and Grundsund. Alongside ordinary rentals they have sheltered housing from age 65, student homes and parking spaces. A parking space requires that you already hold a tenancy with them. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register an application. Vacant homes are listed each week, you register interest, and of those who apply the five with the most points are offered a viewing. Among applicants who meet the letting policy. A Swedish personal identity number, after-tax income of at least two months' rent if the rent is under 10,000 kr (otherwise at least 10,000 kr more than the rent), no debts or payment defaults in the past three years, and good references. The contract goes to whoever has the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Student homes and homes listed as Bo Direkt instead go first come, first served, regardless of points. If you already live with them you collect loyalty points, one per day, which are converted into queue points when you want to move.

LysekilsBostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or the application is deleted and the points cannot be restored. When you sign a tenancy the application closes and the points reset. As a tenant you can register a new interest only nine months after the contract starts.
