LKAB Fastigheter housing queue

LKAB Fastigheter is a wholly owned subsidiary of LKAB and lets 3,600 homes in Kiruna, Gällivare and Luleå. The stock is largest in Kiruna and Gällivare; in Luleå they have four apartments. They provide homes for LKAB employees, private individuals and companies in the towns where LKAB operates. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue does not work like a municipal housing agency. LKAB Fastigheter do not allocate homes by queue points. First come requests from LKAB's HR department. Next are LKAB Fastigheter tenants with security of tenure who are affected by the community transformation, in the order each housing area is affected. Only after that does a place in the queue via an interest application count, and then in this order: a permanent LKAB employee who does not already live with LKAB Fastigheter, an existing LKAB Fastigheter tenant, and last time in the queue. Anyone can join the queue and register interest. You do not need to work at LKAB. But employees and existing tenants go first. When you are offered a home they run a credit check and look at employment and how you have managed previous tenancies.

LKAB Fastigheter publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the location, the size of the home and where you sit in the order. They publish no exact figure in months. You collect queue points as time in the queue, and to keep them you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or you are removed from the system.
