KustBostäder housing queue

KustBostäder is Oxelösund Municipality's housing company and the largest landlord in the municipality, with 1,281 rental homes in areas such as Centrum, Frösäng, Peterslund, Ramdalen and Sunda. Alongside ordinary rentals they have the Vitsippan sheltered housing for households where at least one person has turned 70, plus parking, garages and carports. Some homes are let as Poängfritt: the contract then goes to whoever signs first and meets the basic rules, and you keep your queue points. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register as an applicant, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred. If two of you apply together, the main applicant's points count, so the one with more points should apply. When a home falls vacant you register interest, and among those who meet the letting policy the offer goes to the applicant with the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. You can register from 16, but a contract is signed only from 18. For a contract the household's disposable income must be at least twice the annual rent, and KustBostäder run a credit check. You must not have debts to them or other landlords, or disturbance remarks. Anyone who has been given a permanent job in Oxelösund or Nyköping and lives elsewhere can instead apply for labour-market priority.

KustBostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To stay registered as an applicant you need to log in at least once a year. If you already live with them you should generally have lived there for at least six months before being offered a new home, except for special reasons.
