Kristinehamnsbostäder housing queue

Kristinehamnsbostäder AB is owned by Kristinehamn Municipality and manages just over 1,300 rental homes in Kristinehamn, including at Strand, Stenstaliden, Sannakajen, Najaden, Mariebergsparken, Malmen, Djurgårdsplatån and Innerstan. Alongside ordinary rentals they let parking spaces, and sheltered housing at Sannakajen is applied for when someone in the household has turned 65. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one queue point per day from the day you join. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time. Homes listed as Bostad stay up for seven days and are allocated by points among those who meet Kristinehamnsbostäder's letting policy. You must be 18, able to pay the rent from a regular income for at least six months from move-in. Salary, pension, unemployment benefit and student loans count, as do child benefit, housing benefit, maintenance support and boarding supplements. Have no rent debts or payment defaults, and have good references from a previous landlord. They run a credit check. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. The exception is point-free apartments: they go to whoever registers interest first and meets the criteria, regardless of points.

Kristinehamnsbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your application active you need to log in at least once a year, or the account is closed and you have to register again. When you accept a home and sign a contract the points reset, and you are blocked from applying for another home for twelve months. Before you can be offered a new home you must also have lived in the same home for at least a year without remarks. If you rent a point-free apartment you keep your queue points.
