KFAB housing queue

KFAB, Katrineholms Fastighets AB, is owned by Katrineholm Municipality and lets 2,194 apartments in Katrineholm. Alongside ordinary rentals they have youth apartments, senior housing and sheltered housing, plus storage, garages and parking spaces. You can join the senior queue from 55 and sign a contract from 60 if you no longer have children living at home. You can queue for sheltered housing from 55. Youth apartments are signed between 18 and 25, and you can apply for one at the same time as an ordinary rental. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. When a home falls vacant you register interest, and among the applicants who meet KFAB's letting policy the home is offered to the seven with the most points. The contract goes to whichever of them has the most points, accepts and submits certificates in time. Some homes are released as Bostad Direkt: then first come first served applies without points, and you keep the points you have. Sheltered housing is let first to the oldest applicant, and second by points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Disposable income must be at least twice the monthly rent, and you must have no rent arrears or any payment default in the past twelve months.

KFAB publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To count as an active applicant you need to update your queue details by logging in at least once every twelve months, or you are deactivated.
