Karlshamnsbostäder housing queue

Karlshamnsbostäder is owned through the municipality's group of companies and lets 2,296 rental homes in Karlshamn, Svängsta, Mörrum, Asarum, Ringamåla and Hällaryd. Alongside ordinary rentals they have student rooms with a housing guarantee for new students at Campus Karlshamn, sheltered housing from age 65 and senior homes from age 55, and you can also register interest in parking spaces and storage units. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day, and those points decide when you apply. When a home falls vacant you register interest on Mina sidor, and as a rule it goes in chronological order to the applicant with the most points among those who meet the letting criteria: you must be 18, pass a credit check and show approved income. Wages, pension, unemployment benefit, student finance, capital income and certain benefits count. The exception is Bostad direkt: points do not apply there, the system draws a random ranking among those who registered interest, and the homes are aimed mainly at people who do not already rent from them. You keep all your queue points when you rent via Bostad direkt. People moving to Karlshamn for work can be given priority after an individual assessment, and medical priority is not granted. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Karlshamnsbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They give no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or the points reset.
