Kalixbo housing queue

Stiftelsen Kalixbostäder, which trades as Kalixbo, is Kalix Municipality's public housing foundation, with 882 rental homes in central Kalix, Töre, Morjärv, Nyborg and Båtskärsnäs. Alongside ordinary rentals they have senior housing for ages 55+ and sheltered housing for ages 65+. Parking spaces are let through a separate queue, but only to people who already have a tenancy with them. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined with anyone else's. When a home falls vacant you register interest, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy, the contract goes to the one with the most points. You get no numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. For a contract you must be of legal age, have a Swedish personal identity number or coordination number, and a regular income such as wages, a pension or unemployment benefit. You must have no debt to Kalixbo or another landlord, and at most one payment default in the past 12 months, which must have been settled.

Kalixbo publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to log in at least once a year, or the points are lost and the application is deleted. When you accept a contract, orally or in writing, the points are deleted. If you already live with them you must have lived at least a year in the same apartment before you can apply for another.
