About K2A
Alongside ordinary rentals, K2A lets student homes in university towns from Lund to Kiruna, plus parking spaces and a smaller senior and sheltered offering in Sundsvall. Senior from age 55 and sheltered housing from 65. Student housing is a large share of the stock. Everything is applied for through the same Mina sidor account, where you activate the queues you want to stand in. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on queue days. One day is one queue day, and you can see the balance on Mina sidor. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most three at a time, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy the offer goes to whoever has the most queue days. K2A also call them queue points. Ordinary rentals, student homes and parking have separate queues: you cannot move queue days between them, so anyone who wants an ordinary rental after studying needs to activate that queue separately. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the days count from the day you activate the queue. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you know where you will study.
K2A publish no average queue time. They write that it is hard to say how many queue days you need, because it varies by property and by how many others apply for the same home. They give no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to log in at least once a year, or you lose the queue days. Decline or fail to answer an offer twice and you are blocked from new interest registrations for a month. If you live in a K2A student apartment the time can be credited as queue time in the ordinary rental queue, if you have activated that queue on Mina sidor. K2A do not publish what happens to the queue days when you sign an ordinary tenancy.
