Herbo housing queue

Herbo is the brand of Herrljunga Bostäder AB, Herrljunga municipality's public housing company, with 667 homes in Herrljunga, Ljung and Annelund. They let apartments from turn-of-the-century stock to new builds, in apartment buildings and houses. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. As soon as you register you start collecting points, and the registration is personal. It cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest yourself on Herbo's website. The offer goes to the three applicants with the most points, and among those who meet the letting terms it continues in point order. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Anyone moving to the municipality who has also been offered a job at a company in Herrljunga municipality is given precedence in the queue. To sign a contract you need, among other things, a regular income, no payment defaults in the past three years and home insurance. What you have left to live on after rent is assessed against Konsumentverket norms.

Herbo publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To stay in the queue you need to update your interest registration on Mina sidor at least once every six months, or you are removed. When you accept a home you are automatically removed from the queue. If you want to search again you have to register afresh. You can switch homes only after one year, but you can collect points in the meantime. If you decline four offers you get no further offers for the following six months.
