Helsingborgshem housing queue

Helsingborgshem AB is the City of Helsingborg's municipal housing company, with 11,962 rental homes in the municipality. The stock includes ordinary rentals, 442 student apartments, senior homes from age 55 and sheltered homes from age 65. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You collect points from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant it stays listed for at least four days. You register interest, and the main rule is that the applicant with the most points who meets the basic requirements gets the offer. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. You may only apply with a co-applicant in a marriage-like relationship. Each year up to 20 percent of vacant one- and two-room homes are reserved as Max 25, only for applicants aged 18 to 25. Student apartments are let without points, first come, first served, to anyone studying at least half time at a university or university college. Homes that have not been let can go as Snabbspår, without regard to points.

Helsingborgshem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your points you need to renew the registration at least once every twelve months, or they reset. If you turn down or fail to answer six times within six months you are blocked from applying for six months. If you are offered a contract the points always reset, even if you do not go through with signing, and you cannot apply again for six months.
