Härnösandshus housing queue

AB Härnösandshus is owned by Härnösand Municipality and lets around 1,800 rental homes in Härnösand town. Alongside ordinary rentals there is Plusboende from age 55 with no children still at home, sheltered housing from age 65, and student homes for students at Mid Sweden University and YH programmes in Härnösand. Student listings are not published on the website and are applied for via customer service. Parking spaces are applied for through the same Mina sidor account. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined. Vacant homes are listed for at least seven days. You have to register interest yourself, no offers are sent automatically, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy the offer goes to the one with the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. You need a Swedish personal identity number and income that covers the rent for at least six months from move-in, and you must have no rent arrears. People moving in with a permanent job in Härnösand or neighbouring municipalities can get 1,500 extra points for six months.

Härnösandshus publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor and save your application at least once a year, or the points are deleted. If you turn down or do not reply three times you are blocked from applying for six months, but you keep the points. When you sign a tenancy the points are deleted, and to collect new ones you have to register again.
