Haparanda Bostäder housing queue

Stiftelsen Haparandabostäder is Haparanda municipality's public housing foundation, with 495 rental homes in central Haparanda, Marielund, Nikkala and on Seskarö. Alongside ordinary rentals they have 42 senior homes for ages 55+ at Parkgatan 5, let through Haparandabostäder, and 50 sheltered homes at Torggatan 14 that Haparanda Municipality allocates through its older-persons officers. That queue is not part of the ordinary housing queue. They also let parking spaces, applied for through Mina sidor. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on queue time, not points. You register on the website, get a customer number and then register interest in vacant homes yourself. Vacated apartments stay listed for a week, and queue time decides who gets an offer. The customer number is personal and cannot be transferred. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the time counts from the day you register. That is why joining early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Before a contract is signed Haparandabostäder run a credit check and take references from a previous landlord, and you need to be able to show current income.

Haparanda Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with longer queue time apply for the same one. They publish no exact figure in months. To keep your place you need to be active at least once every twelve months, for example by logging in to Mina sidor, or your details are deleted and the queue place ends. They do not publish what happens to your queue time when you sign a contract.
