Hallstahem housing queue

Hallstahem, AB Hallstahem, is owned by Hallstahammar Municipality and lets 2,517 apartments in Hallstahammar, Kolbäck and Strömsholm. Alongside ordinary rentals they have a separate queue for storage, which you activate on Mina sidor. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on queue days, which Hallstahem also call points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the days are personal. They cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most two at a time. Among the applicants who meet the letting policy, the offer goes to the one with the most queue days. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Income must cover at least six months from move-in and be in proportion to the rent. Wages, a pension and business income count, but unemployment benefit is accepted only if you are registered as living in Hallstahammar Municipality. You must have no rent arrears or payment defaults.

Hallstahem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more queue days apply for the same one. To keep your queue days you need to log in and update each queue at least once a year, or you are removed from the queue. If you turn down four offers within a year you are blocked from applying for six months. A missed reply counts as no. If you get a contract and then change your mind after signing, you lose the queue days. Existing tenants can move to another Hallstahem home only after 12 months in their current apartment.
