Gotlandshem housing queue

Gotlandshem owns and manages around 4,500 rental homes and just over 100 commercial premises, spread across the island from Fårösund in the north to Burgsvik in the south. The stock ranges from medieval buildings in Visby's inner town to modern housing. Alongside ordinary rentals there are youth homes for ages 18-24, around 200 homes from age 65 and 70+ housing in kvarteret Hytten in Gråbo. You can also join queues for parking and storage; parking has its own queue, and both storage and parking are let only to existing tenants. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per calendar day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred. When the interest window closes, those with the most queue days are offered a viewing. After the viewing, whoever has the most queue days among those who said yes is checked in three steps: need for a permanent home where you will be registered as living (it must be your own and only home, not a complement or overnight flat), housing references and a credit check. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Youth and senior homes are applied for in the same queue.

Gotlandshem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more queue days apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in at least once a year, within 365 days of your last login, or you do not keep your place in the queue. When you sign a contract the queue days reset, but you stay in the queue and start collecting points again. Hemse is the exception: if you sign a tenancy there you keep your queue days. If you turn down or do not reply to an offer six times in six months you are blocked from applying for six months.
