About Gnestahem

Gnestahem AB is Gnesta municipality's public housing company, with 943 rental homes in the municipality. Alongside ordinary rentals they have senior housing at Torggatan 16 in Gnesta: 52 apartments where anyone aged 65 or over and registered as living in the municipality has precedence. If there are not enough applicants in that group the home goes through the ordinary queue. Garages and parking spaces are applied for in the same way through Mina sidor, but you must already be a tenant. Some homes go to the municipality's social-housing work and are not published on the website. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most three at a time. Viewing offers go to the first five in the queue who have registered interest in the area, and among those who meet Gnestahem's letting policy the home goes to the applicant with the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. You need a Swedish personal identity number. The income guideline is that gross income should be three times the rent, or other demonstrated ability to pay and a good payment history.

Gnestahem publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in and update your registration at least once every twelve months, or you are removed from the queue and the points are lost. If you turn down three offers in a row, or do not reply three times, you are blocked from new applications for six months. When you sign a contract the points reset and you are blocked from applying for a new apartment for twelve months from the contract date. If you want to be in the queue again you have to register afresh.
