Gislavedshus housing queue

Gislavedshus AB is owned by Gislaved Municipality and lets around 2,700 rental homes in Gislaved, Anderstorp, Smålandsstenar, Hestra, Reftele and the rest of the municipality. Alongside ordinary rentals they have senior apartments for anyone aged 70 or over. The same housing queue, but you can register interest only from 70, plus queues for parking and storage. A garage requires that you already hold a tenancy. Registering is free. There is no annual fee. You need a Swedish personal identity number, and they assess income against the rent.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day in the housing queue, and the points are personal and cannot be transferred. Vacant homes are published on Mina sidor for five days. You register interest, and among the applicants who meet Gislavedshus's letting policy, credit checks and viewings go to up to five people with the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. The exception is a point-free apartment: it goes to whoever signs the contract first, regardless of points.

Gislavedshus publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the town, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or you leave the queue. When you sign an ordinary tenancy the points reset and you cannot apply for another home with them for 12 months. Joining the queue again takes an active step. If you rent a point-free apartment you keep the points and may keep applying whenever you like.
