Forshaga Bostäder housing queue

Forshaga Bostäder AB is owned by Forshaga municipality and manages 856 apartments, 542 in Forshaga and 314 in Deje. About 100 of those have been converted into roughly 225 student rooms for upper-secondary students at ForshagaAkademin. They also let parking spaces, including some with charging points. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or shared. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time. Among the applicants who meet the letting criteria, viewing offers go to those with the most points, and the contract goes to the one with the most points who accepts. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Forshaga Bostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the type of home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. Central locations can have a longer wait. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or you are removed from the queue and the points are lost. When you sign a tenancy the points reset and the interest registration disappears. The account becomes a tenant account. After you have lived with them for a year you can register interest again if you want to switch homes.
