Faxeholmen housing queue

Alongside ordinary rentals, Faxeholmen has a senior queue and a parking queue. Senior housing is available from 55, including at Villastaden, and the sheltered housing at Linden in Bergvik is for people aged 65 or over. Parking spaces, carports and garages are applied for through the same Mina sidor account. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, in every queue, and the points are personal and cannot be transferred. You can join the queue from the day you turn 17, but you must be 18 to sign a contract. When a home falls vacant you register interest. At most three listings at a time, and among the applicants who meet Faxeholmen's basic requirements, the points carry the most weight. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. To be offered a tenancy you need income that covers rent and living costs, no rent arrears or large payment defaults, and, if asked, good references from a previous landlord.

Faxeholmen publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to update your profile by logging in at least once every twelve months. Faxeholmen send no reminder. When you accept and sign the contract the points reset from the contract date, but you keep collecting new points automatically. If you move out of Faxeholmen the points reset on the day the contract ends, and you then have to activate yourself in the queue again.
