Ekerö Bostäder housing queue

Ekerö Bostäder is Ekerö municipality's public housing company. Alongside ordinary apartments and terraced houses they let parking spaces, including to people who do not live with them, plus storage units and premises. Everything is applied for through the same Mina sidor account. You need a Swedish personal identity number to register, and registering is free. There is no annual fee. Homes marked +65 have a separate priority order.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day you are registered, and the points are personal and cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most three at a time. The queue is ranked first by priority group. People registered as living in Ekerö municipality go ahead of other applicants, and then by points. If priority and points are equal, the time of the interest registration decides. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Ekerö Bostäder publish no average queue time. They write that they cannot give an exact answer: how long it takes depends on which homes fall vacant and how many others apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once in any 12-month period, or the application is deleted and the points are lost. When you sign a contract the points reset, and you cannot register interest in another home for the following 12 months. If you want to be in the queue again you have to register afresh.
