About Degerforsbyggen
Degerforsbyggen AB is wholly owned by Degerfors Municipality and lets 835 apartments in Degerfors, Strömtorp, Svartå and Åtorp. Alongside ordinary rentals there is senior housing (55+) and a separate parking queue. You can join the senior queue from 50 and apply from 55. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day in each queue you are in, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined. When a home falls vacant you register interest, at most five at a time, and the five with the most points are invited to view. Among those who meet Degerforsbyggen's letting policy, the contract goes to whoever stands highest in the queue after the viewing. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.
Degerforsbyggen publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or the points are lost. When you are allocated a home the points reset. If you want to collect points again you have to reactivate in the queue, and you cannot apply for another home with them within six months.
