Boplats Växjö Student housing queue

Boplats Växjö is Växjö municipality's housing agency and runs two queues. This page is the student housing queue, not the ordinary housing queue. The student queue covers Vidingehem's 2,065 student homes. Apartments and corridor rooms, mainly on campus at Linnaeus University. Registering is free. There is no annual fee. Student housing is charged as ten months' rent a year. Applicants who have not previously joined the ordinary housing queue can get one year there free of charge when they register in the student queue, but that registration is not automatic.

The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register in the student queue, and you can see the balance on Mina sidor. You can register interest in three homes at a time. The six applicants with the most points are invited to a viewing, and when the reply deadline has passed the housing company contacts whoever has the most points. The points are personal and cannot be combined or transferred. They count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.

Boplats Växjö publish no average queue time for the student queue. How long it takes depends on the area, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. There is no requirement to log in at set intervals to keep your points. You are, however, deregistered if you have been in the student queue for five years without accepting a viewing or a home. When you accept a student apartment and are offered a contract, all queue points are used up, and you have to reactivate yourself to collect new ones. To rent you must be in active studies equivalent to at least 15 ECTS credits per term on CSN-eligible post-secondary education.
