About Bengtsforshus
Bengtsforshus AB is owned by Bengtsfors Municipality and manages around 820 apartments in five towns. Alongside ordinary rentals there is senior housing from age 55, student housing in Dals Långed and a number of storage units. Garages and parking spaces are let too. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and queue time is personal. It cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest. Offers go to at most five applicants at once, and among those who say yes the home is allocated with regard to points and an individual assessment. The main rule is that whoever has the longest queue time and meets the letting policy gets it. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Student priority can be given if you have a place at Stenebyskolan, and labour-market priority if you are moving to the municipality for a job.
Bengtsforshus publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the town, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To keep your place and points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once a year, or the account is removed. If you do not reply to three offers a block is set and you lose the points. Once you have been given a home you must live there for at least 12 months before you can apply for another with them. On a direct swap, though, you keep your queue time.
