About Askersundsbostäder
Alongside ordinary rentals, Askersundsbostäder has senior housing, including at Linden in Askersund and Lärkvägen in Åsbro, and also lets garages, parking spaces and storage units. Everything is applied for through Mina sidor, and registering is free. There is no annual fee. Senior homes have a separate queue: you can join from age 60 and apply from age 65. You can only queue for storage and parking if you have an active or upcoming tenancy.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day in the queue, and the points are personal and cannot be transferred. When a home falls vacant you register interest. You can have five housing applications at once and three for parking or storage, but at most three concurrent offers. Viewing offers go to the five applicants with the most points or to whoever applied first. The listing says which. After that Askersundsbostäder collect income documentation and references and decide who gets the contract. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.
Askersundsbostäder publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the location, the size of the home and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To remain in the queue you need to log in at least once every six months. When you are allocated a home the points reset. If you want to stay in the queue you have to activate again to start collecting points.
