Arvika Fastighets AB is Arvika municipality's public housing company and owns around 3,000 apartments, including homes used for care and support. The stock is in central Arvika. The town centre, Agneteberg, Degerängen, Dottevik and Prästängen, plus a handful of apartments in Klässbol. Standing in the queue costs 100 kronor a year.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register, and the points are personal. They cannot be transferred or combined with anyone else's. When a home is published you register interest, at most three at a time. The five applicants with the most points who meet the basic requirements are offered a viewing, and the home normally goes to the one with the most points. Arvika Fastighets reserve the right to choose the tenant. It is not a regional housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.
Arvika Fastighets publish no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the size of the home, the area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. There is no requirement to log in at set intervals to keep your place. What you must do is pay the annual fee of 100 kronor, or you are automatically deregistered and the points are lost. When you are allocated a home the points reset and you are blocked from applying again for nine months. If you want to collect points again you have to reactivate as an applicant.
