About Aroseken

Aroseken is a housing foundation in Västerås with 698 rental homes, both centrally and in residential areas outside the city centre. The foundation has built and managed housing in the city since 1956. Ordinary rentals are what you apply for through the applicant account, and registering is free. There is no annual fee. You need to be at least 18 and have a Swedish personal identity number.

The queue does not work like a municipal housing agency. You get no numbered place and there are no queue points to collect. Aroseken reserves the right to freely choose among applicants who meet the letting policy, to get a mixed composition of tenants, older and younger people, students, people in work, families with children and pensioners. You register on Mina sidor, register interest in vacant homes (at most five at a time) and can be offered a viewing if you meet the requirements. Aroseken does count registered time as an applicant, but it is not decisive: they write themselves that it is possible to get a home without having been registered for long.

Aroseken publishes no average queue time. How long it takes depends on the rent, the size, the standard and the location. To count as an active applicant you need to update your profile at least once every six months. If you do not respond to a viewing offer you are blocked from the register for 6 months. And if you have said yes to continued interest and then drop out, you lose the registered time and cannot apply again for 6 months. What happens to the time when you sign a contract is something Aroseken does not publish.
