About Alingsåshem
Alingsåshem AB is owned by Alingsås Municipality through Fastighetskoncernen Alingsåshem AB and AB Alingsås Rådhus. At the end of 2025 they had 3,374 homes around the municipality, plus commercial premises. That makes them the largest landlord in Alingsås. Alongside ordinary rentals there are youth homes for applicants aged 18-24 at move-in, on a fixed-term contract of at most four years, and senior homes from 70. Parking has a separate queue with its own points through Mina sidor. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day from the day you register. Registration is personal and cannot be transferred. Vacant homes are published on the website on Mondays at 12.00. You may register interest in at most three homes at a time. Those with the most points are invited to a viewing, usually five applicants. Among those who meet the letting policy and say yes, the contract goes to whoever has the most points. The company's own need for replacement homes during renovation, and agreed priority, come before the queue. Queue time does not always decide: in snabbuthyrning, for example after a death or a renovation with a short move-in, the home goes to whoever in the queue registers interest first and meets the requirements. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you join. That is why registering early is worthwhile, even before you start looking.
Alingsåshem write that the average wait is about 9 years, but that it can vary a great deal depending on the type of home. They publish no exact figure in months for the queue as a whole. How long it takes depends on size, rent, area and how many applicants with more points apply for the same one. To stay in the queue you need to activate your place at least once every twelve months, through Mina sidor, by phone or by email, or you are deregistered. When you accept an ordinary home the points reset. You then start collecting new points from the contract date, what they call time in the home as queue time. The exceptions are youth contracts and short-term contracts, where you keep the points and keep collecting. If you decline or miss a viewing five times within six months you are blocked from applying for six months. The points are not affected.
