About Alebyggen
Alebyggen is owned by Ale municipality and lets apartments, terraced houses and detached houses in almost every town in the municipality. Parking spaces and garages are applied for through the same Mina sidor account. Registering is free. There is no annual fee.
The queue runs on points. You earn one point per day in the queue, and among the applicants who meet the letting policy, the home goes to the one with the most points. It is not a municipal housing agency with a numbered place, but the points count from the day you register. That is why joining early is worthwhile, even before you start looking. Queue time does not always decide: when move-in is close, the home can go to whoever registered interest first, and on the first letting of a new-build, existing tenants have priority.
Alebyggen write that the wait for a home in the existing stock averages about 4 years, and they publish area figures that vary. They publish no exact figure in months for the queue as a whole. To keep your points you need to log in to Mina sidor at least once every twelve months, or your queue time is reset. If you do not log in for another year the account is deleted. Alebyggen write that remembering to log in is your responsibility. Once you already live with them you can apply for another home only after 12 months. A direct swap resets your points.
