AF Bostäder housing queue

Stiftelsen AF Bostäder, trading as AF Bostäder, is one of Sweden's largest student housing companies and lets around 6,200 student homes in central Lund to active students at Lund University. Registering is free. There is no annual fee to AF Bostäder. To get a queue place you must already have been admitted to at least 15 ECTS credits per term at Lund University and hold paid membership of Studentlund, which also makes you a member of Akademiska Föreningen. You cannot join the queue in advance. The membership fee is paid to Studentlund, not to AF Bostäder. They publish no lower age limit for registering. For corridor housing you may be at most 35 when the contract is signed. Anyone who turns 35 during an ongoing tenancy is not affected.

The queue runs on queue time, not on queue points. The time is the day and clock time your housing application was sent. Vacant homes are published with a booking window. You can hold at most three bookings at once, and when the window closes the contract offer goes to whoever booked and has the longest queue time. The booking is binding until you withdraw it before the window ends. When you receive a contract offer the queue time is deregistered, even if you decline. Deregistered time cannot be restored, but you can make a new housing application.

AF Bostäder publish no average queue time. They show the shortest waits by home type for the roughly 3,500 homes let in 2025, and say the figures are not a guarantee. For most corridor rooms without novisch priority, under 6 months was enough. For studios, 6-12 months was common; for two-, three- and four-room homes, 12-24 months was typical. There is no regular login. What keeps the place alive is that the study and membership requirements are met each term. Study checks are carried out regularly. You can live there for at most six years. When six months of that time remain, the queue place is deregistered.
